Megalithic Sites of "Batu Bedil" : Batu Bedil is an ancient relic in Lampung. Precisely located in the hamlet of Batu Bedil, Gunung Meraksa Village, Pulau Panggung Distric, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province, Indonesia. Many do not know the relics caused by a weak understanding of history. Beside that, the interest for further research on the existence of Batu Bedil very less.

Shaped like a rifle makes stone sites are called “Batu Bedil”. In Bahasa Indonesia Batu is stone and Bedil is rifle. On the stone is inscription engraved lettering Sanskrit.

The Ministry of Education and Culture website mention that there is a large and high menhir by local people called the "Batu Bedil", as in times of old often heard the chug.

But when I asked the locals he said that Batu Bedil named because it looks like a rifle, because the first holder of the stone was horizontally, not vertically as it is today.

Batu Bedil’s menhir width of about 109 cm and a height of about 220 cm. In addition of Batu Bedil, there are also other stones such distribution upright stones, stone mortar, stone altar / dolmen and stone scratched.

On site Kemendikbud mentioned that except Batu Bedil Menhir, there is Batu Bedil’s Inscription written on a piece of rock measuring approximately 157 cm high and 72 cm wide. The inscription consists of 10 lines with letter height of about approximately 5 cm.

The posts are in frame and on the underside of the frame there are scratches forming a lotus or lotus flower. The condition of the text is illegible due to wear, but on the first line read Namo Bhagawate and on the tenth row Swaha legible. Based on these studies indicated the possibility inscriptions are related to spell and suspected from the 9th or 10th century.
